This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion of the article below. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page or, if the page was deleted, in the Senate Hall rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was Keep. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 05:43, January 18, 2014 (UTC)
Mundicide (talk - history - links - logs)
This is a another largely unsourced list that I do not see any purpose for. We have Category:Destroyed planets and each planet should mention when and how it was destroyed anyway, provided that information is available.
- Actually, a new idea has surface that's been implemented: the article's been moved to mundicide, (the destruction of a planet) and should be converted from a list into a proper article. With this, the information is preserved, and the article still addresses the subject of planetary destruction.

Was planning to do this too. CadeCalrayn 18:55, January 9, 2014 (UTC)
There's no reason why this information shouldn't be more properly documented in the Planet article. We don't need a specific list article for this. Merge and delete it.Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:36, January 9, 2014 (UTC)Per Tope. Grand Moff Tranner(Comlink) 00:44, January 10, 2014 (UTC)

- Nah. This list is rather informative, far more so than the category ever would be. Lists may not be encouraged but we accept them so TC'ing those that are useful (imo), like this one, is just not the way to go. Winterz (talk) 19:14, January 9, 2014 (UTC)
- I also think this would be a useful list. Corellian Premier

- Its a nifty way to order these planets and makes the info accessible. Darth Pickle 2 (talk) 02:57, January 10, 2014 (UTC)
- Weak keep per Winterz and Pickle. I would also be fine if somebody wanted to go crazy creating subcategories of Category:Destroyed planets to replace this list, but given the widely varying methods of destruction, a single category cannot do the job that this list currently does. —MJ— War Room 05:08, January 10, 2014 (UTC)
- With the move to mundicide. Cade

- Needs work, yes. That is not reason enough to... destroy it. The move to a new term (given its usage in the GFFA) will help to mold this mere list into more of an actual article. -- Riffsyphon1024 12:55, January 11, 2014 (UTC)

- Contains very useful information. Deleting it would be epically dumb. KEJ (talk) 18:03, January 12, 2014 (UTC)

Discussion
- I didn't see anything in WP:MOS about tables. I was curious what the general feeling about sortable tables (like Wikipedia does) is here at Wookieepedia. - Esjs(Talk) 16:50, January 10, 2014 (UTC)
- The only policy we have that mentions tables is Wookieepedia:Layout_Guide/Out-of-universe#Published_narrative_works, which specifies use of a table for listing issues of a comic series. Beyond that, they are not commonly used, generally only when common sense dictates that a list with multiple data points per item would be better presented in table format, such as the List of planets, List of future comics, and at Lightsaber duel. The destroyed planets list could be a candidate for table conversion. Sortability, again, is simply used when it would be useful, such as the planet list; there's no policy of guideline on it. —MJ— Jedi Council Chambers 20:08, January 10, 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm, in that case, I'd just add a couple of columns to the list (table) of planets containing the "destroyed" information from this list. I.e. merge to List of planets and delete. - Esjs(Talk) 20:53, January 10, 2014 (UTC)
- The problem with that is that the planet list is split across 27 pages due to its sheer size, and extremely few of the entries in those list would use those columns. The vast, vast majority of them would leave those columns empty, which not only would increase loading times for little to no gain, but would likely invite fanon as well since 27 pages cannot be monitored as easily as one. Not to mention that people looking for this information would have to scan through 27 separate, huge pages instead of getting it all in one easy place. —MJ— War Room 00:38, January 11, 2014 (UTC)
