Greetings Wookieepedians!
Sorry if this was ever brought up before, or elsewhere, but I feel one's personal experience would be better insight, specifically in regards to Template:Surname. My question is, while there is a template for surnames aka last names, is there a situation for first names? Presuming that such matters aren't necessary, since majority of characters whose full name(s) aren't revealed are usually known by their last names. Unless of course I'm mistaken? Please let me know your thoughts (if any) on the subject. -- CJSFanOn Stranger Tides, Arkham City 21:17, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- This is the first time I hear about this template. Not only do I find it unnecessary, the wording is speculative – we don't necessarily know whether the person in question actually has a first name. I would support deleting the template that was seemingly implemented without any community discussion. 01miki10 Open comlink 22:27, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Not necessarily. In Legends, Palpatine is known to have a first name (per Darth Plagueis), but it is unknown. ThrawnChiss7

- Yeah I have to agree that this seems heavily assumptive of individuals in Star Wars necessarily having first names by default to begin with and also of surnames necessarily being inherited. And even if in a couple of cases it has indeed been confirmed that we do not know an individuals' first name I don't think it warrants yet another header template. - Per Imperators, even though there are some cases where we only know a character's last name, if their article mentions it then I don't think we need to have a template. Rsand 30 (talk) 11:55, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hm, perhaps the template should be run through TC? Inclined to agree with above.—spookywillowwtalk 06:01, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- OK, went ahead and started up a deletion discussion for this template. I now realize, however, that the original question of this thread never did get answered - personally I'm not aware of any cases where we only know an individual's first name, or at least, where we only know one name for them and aren't, again, just assuming that they must have had the equivalent of a surname as well.
