Okay I am finally going to put forward an update to Wookieepedia:Notability policy/Video game items to include Star Wars Outlaws cosmetics and collectibles. For those that are not aware there are a number of collectibles, cosmetics and items in the game, which are archived on Wookieepedia:Star Wars Outlaws screenshots.

I am planning to put up a multi-vote CT where the notability of different types of collectibles/cosmetics/items can be supported or opposed individually. However there are a number of sets of items that I would like feedback on before going forward with a CT.

Applicable items

Kay and Nix accessories

These will probably just be two votes allowing all except the nix ones that are just color alternatives like "Red Scarf" and "Elegant tail wrappings"

Charms

These will probably just be a support or oppose. Most are pretty unique, weirdest ones however are "Chew Toy", "Baby rancor fang", "Modified power converter" and "Weathered seashell"

Jets Journal

A set of collectible audio journal entries from one of the previous owners of the ship. Each entry is found at a fixed location in the game. I personally think that they journal itself should have an article but I don't think the individual entries should have articles, but I am curious if that is worth a vote on?

Nix treasures

A set of collectibles that the player can find by following Nix through specific areas. Each set of treasures on a planet/moon can be traded in with one merchant in exchange for cosmetics for Nix. While some of these are already existing items with articles like "Talk box" is a 2-MAL personal comlink, other are:

  • a piece of something else like "Bang Button" is a part of Low Altitude Assault Transport/carrier
  • "Tiny Ship" is a airspeeder toy which might be notable
  • "Smelly bone" and "Shiny Lump" don't seem notable

Transmissions and ISB Reports

While they contain lots of lore information, I don't really think they have notable for individual pages. Their information can just be included on the specific characters articles.

Holodrama episodes

Holodrama audio collectibles which usually give a short recap on the previous episode or in the case of "Love on Deck 5" seems to jump into the episode. While the Holodramas themselves have articles; we do specifically have episode numbers so we could create articles for each episode or part.

Blaster coatings, Speeder paint jobs, Trailblazer Fuel and Trailblazer finish

Collectible and dlc cosmetics that can be applied to Kay's blaster, Kay's speeder or the Trailblazer. Some of these have more unique names like "Boonta brawler", "Coronet ace", "Royal Chromium" others are just descriptors like "Onyx", "Commander", "Mandalorian", "Ruby cross" or "Ruby streak". I am honestly not sure what to do with these and if it would make sense to try to write a vote to approve some and not all of these

Speeder Trophy & Trinkets

Collectible and dlc cosmetics that can apply to the Speeder bike, or in the case of trinkets also to the Trailblazer. Most of these do just make sense but some seem weird to me to have a articles like:

  • "Bounty hunter helmet" which is just a version of Boba's helmet
  • "Bandit mask" and "Bounty hunter mask" don't seem like in universe names to me
  • "Flashy cape" and "Handlebar Tassels" are just small trinkets that attach to handlebars

Valuables/Quest Items

Items that you find in the game and can sell or are part of quests. While most of these seem pretty clearly unique and notable But others like the following are more debatable:

  • Some are just information like "Blackmail data", and "Message sent:" which can probably be ignored
  • Various keycards like "Weapons factory access card" or various "[Individual]'s keycard (ie. Zafi's vault keycard, Bibs's vault keycard)
  • Some of the valuables are just junk "Broken mechanical lever", "Broken antique", "Crystal fragments", "Imperial propaganda", "Torn rags"

Working out the CT language

Per Spooky, this is an area to work out the wording of the votes for the future CT. The votes will be numbered on the CT but for the purposes of discussion I will not number them here as the numbers and order are subject to change.

Vote Main - Notable items to those matching criteria

This Vote will add the following section to Wookieepedia:Notability policy/Video game items page with additional bullet point criteria being added with the other votes in this CT. This vote needs to pass along for any of the additional votes to pass.

In-game cosmetics, collectibles, or items which should receive their own articles if they meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • The game item is listed in the "Tools", "Components", or "Key parts" menu of the player's inventory.
  • The game item is a collectible Shift Token.

Additional votes

Vote - Kays Outfits

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item is a piece of equipable clothing that can be assigned to Kay Vess. (i.e. belts, pants, vests, shirts, and jackets)

Vote - Nix accessories

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item is an equipable accessory assignable to Nix which is not just color variations such as "Red Scarf" and "Elegant tail wrappings".

Vote - Charms

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item is an equipable charm that can be assigned to Kay Vess.

Vote - Quest Items

Update following bullet point in the Outlaws notability criteria with the bolded section:

  • The game item is listed in the "Tools", "Components", "Key parts", or "Quest Items" menu of the player's inventory.

As well as adding following sub bullet point.

    • Except those items that purely depict information such as "Forgery investigation" and "Gambling Operations".

Vote - Quest Items - Keycards

Add the following bullet point exception sub bullet point to the "Quest Items" menu of the player's inventory notability requirement:

Vote Option - No keycards
  • Except those quest items that are identified as keycards.
Vote Option - Only possessive keycards
  • Except those quest items that are identified as keycards which do not belong to named individuals such as "Badru's vault keycard".
Vote Option (Oppose) - All keycards

No exception regarding keycards will be added for "Quest Items".

Vote - Valuables

Update following bullet point in the Outlaws notability criteria with the bolded section:

  • The game item is listed in the "Tools", "Components", "Key parts", or "Valuables" menu of the player's inventory.

As well as adding following sub bullet point.

    • Except those items that purely depict information such as "Forgery investigation" and "Gambling Operations".

If this vote passes and the vote to include Quest Items also passes these two can be combined within the one bullet point.

Vote - Valuables - Junk items

Add the following bullet point exception to items which appear in the "Valuables" menu of the player's inventory:

    • Except those items in the "Valuables" menu which are labeled as junk within the game such as "broken mechanical lever" and "old sock".

Vote - Trinket

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item appears as a "Trinket" cosmetic.

Vote - Trophy

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item appears as a "Trophy" cosmetic for the Kay's speeder bike.

Vote - Paint Job

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item appears as a "Paint Job" cosmetic for Kay's speeder bike.

If this vote and the vote for "Trophy" cosmetics this can be combined into one bullet point:

  • The game item appears as a "Trophy" and "Paint Job" cosmetic for Kay's speeder bike.

Vote - Fuel

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item appears as a "Fuel" cosmetic for the Trailblazer.

Vote - Finish

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item appears as a "Finish" cosmetic for the Trailblazer.

If this vote and the vote for "Finish" cosmetics then the can be combined into one bullet point:

  • The game item appears as a "Fuel" and "Finish" cosmetic for the Trailblazer.

Vote - Blaster Coating

Add the following bullet point to the Outlaws notability criteria:

  • The game item appears as a " Blaster Coating" cosmetic for Kay's blaster.

Vote - Nix Treasures

Update the following bullet point in the Outlaws notability criteria with the bolded section:

  • The game item is a collectible Shift Token or a collectible "Nix Treasure".

  • Admittedly, I still have not played Outlaws, though I do still generally keep up with it. From my understanding, a lot of the cosmetics in this game can be treated similarly to the Jedi games, where it's a "100% progress what if" scenario. Pretty much slapping the {{Gamemechanics}} template. Bonzane10 Bonzane10-Sig 02:29, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
    • Vess's collection or purchase of most of the cosmetics would fall in {{Gamemechanics}} however the existence of the items and the included iu descriptions of the items would fall outside of it. ThePedantry (talk) 03:05, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
  • Don't really have a preference on most of these but wanted to leave a note that, on the whole, CT votes generally(ish) have a better chance of passing if the exact policy text is proposed for feedback. Even if specific provisions fail, the ones that do pass will need the exact text present for an admin to eventually implement; and if that text is put up for CT without SH review, sometimes it can be considered too rough around the edges and gets shot down for refinement. But with SH review, people can suggest wording tweaks and the like, or at least acknowledge that they had time to suggest and then just didn't, which is by then partially on them.—spookywillowwtalk 02:58, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
    • Added a "Working out the CT language" section to this SH to work out those details, thanks for reminding me about this. ThePedantry (talk) 04:29, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
  • Just chiming in to say great job assembling all of this! I unfortunately have not yet had a chance to play Outlaws, but this seems reasonable to me to move forward with. I do think some of the types of items listed probably won't work out just because it would set a pretty broad precedent for other games (coatings and paint jobs and such), but I guess that's what the vote is for anyway! Additionally, I was wondering if you could clarify the phrase "components or key part categories" in the main policy? Are those certain submenus in the inventory? Is it possible to rephrase/clarify the wording there a bit, especially since "categories" is a term we already use for Wook, unless that's the word used in the actual game? That's all I really had as far as input at the moment, keep up the great work! - MTrac1000 (talk) 23:03, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
    • Updated it to be "menu of the player's inventory" instead of categories for more clarity. Also I want to add coatings/paint scheme votes more for completeness. ThePedantry (talk) 23:31, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
  • Seems like a decent number of the proposed phrases are grammatically full sentences and should have ending punctuation. There's also
    • One double is "is is" present.
    • Regarding: "Except those items that depicted purely information such as "Forgery investigation" and "Gambling Operations"—was this meant to be "Except those items that purely depict information such as "Forgery investigation" and "Gambling Operations"? The former/current version doesn't seem to read quite right.
    • Is "as a "Paint Job" cosmetic for the Kay's speeder bike" with the Kay's speeder bike supposed to have the "the" there?
    • To avoid bloat, you may want to consider adding a note that like "if votes number XYZ pass, then they can be combined" such as putting "The game item appears as a "Fuel" cosmetic for the Trailblazer" and "The game item appears as a "Finish" cosmetic for the Trailblazer" and making them a combined "The game item appears as a "Fuel" or "Finish" cosmetic for the Trailblazer. And other such combinations, or it'll be a really long list of bullet points. Or if quite all/every category of cosmetic for [category] passes, then it might just be "The game item appears as a cosmetic for the Trailblazer." outright with no exceptions, rather than idk three bullet points worth of stating such in more complex ways.—spookywillowwtalk 00:29, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
      • Fixed the copy edits, thanks! Also I agree with avoiding bloat by combining, would that language best be stated in each of the votes or part of the base vote? ThePedantry (talk) 02:21, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
        • Sort of up to you as long as somewhere. The thing being to avoid the archiving admin overreaching their authority by unilaterally deciding to merge them: so if it's just somewhere in there, then they're doing it with community will and that's fine. Re: copy-edit, I do think a few more of the above statements that start with "The game item appears..." are full sentences though and should have ending punctuation.—spookywillowwtalk 23:00, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
          • Cleaned up accordingly. ThePedantry (talk) 19:05, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
  • Haven't played the game yet, and probably not before some years, but for the sake on allowing people like me to better understand what you are talking about and what we are meant to vote on, I think illustrative screenshots couldn't hurt. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 21:37, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
    • Screenshots of all of the items in question should be already archived here: Wookieepedia:Star Wars Outlaws screenshots. ThePedantry (talk) 00:40, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
      • Ah, my bad! In my rush, I missed that you even included it at the very start of the SH. That's what you get when you try to catch up with half a year of SH/CT in a single afternoon ><. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 12:33, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
