The result of the debate was Use "credits" in infobox as standard rather than {{Cr}}. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:14, June 27, 2014 (UTC)

A followup to the recently ended CT regarding the standardization of {{Cr}} (which was opposed). However, the voting options left the end result of standardization in the air - it was only decided not to standardize {{Cr}}'s use. This CT is going to fix that.
Standardize use of "credits" in infobox

- Feels like instruction creep, but since standardization is going to happen anyway then I cast my vote for this option instead of the symbol. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 05:03, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

No standardization

- Wait, to clarify Jorrel's wording above: We are standardizing the use of Galactic Credit Standard and not {{Cr}}? JangFett (Talk) 11:16, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
- This may seem like a "well, duh!" type of nitpick, but I'd like it to be clarified that this only applies to prices listed in credits and not other forms of currency. I could see a possible interpretation that all prices should use credits (because it been standardized), thus (as an extreme/absurd example) requiring a conversion from Wupiupi to credits. - Esjs (Talk to me) 15:47, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
- Just curious: How come my proposal was considered "instruction creep" and this one isn't?--Richterbelmont10

- Only a small number of the 18 people who voted said it was instruction creep. As one of them, I do agree that this standardization proposals is still instruction creep. However, as it seems apparent that the community wishes to adopt this standard, I personally decided to vote in support given that this proposal is a better alternative to the credit symbol. If there's going to be standardization, then I want to make sure writing out the word "credit"—not the symbol—is the standard. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 05:36, June 23, 2014 (UTC)
- So will the {{Cr}} template be useless after this?--Richterbelmont10

- There's nothing formally restricting its usage in article body text. In fact, AP Style actually promotes the usage of the dollar sign in formal writing over spelling out "dollars" because the symbol is easier and quicker for people to understand as they're reading. Granted, some people have raised the question of whether our readers will understand what the credit symbol means. So, while the template's usage is left optional in the article body, you may want to consider whether its usage is truly beneficial or not. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:33, June 23, 2014 (UTC)
- I would suggest a usage similar to acronyms, that is the first instance using the word credit and the symbol in brackets, then any usage afterwards can simply use the symbol. Eg: Republic Credits (
) are no good out here. But i'll sell you the hyperdrive unit for
700. —Unsigned comment by Manoof (talk • contribs)
