The result of the debate was Split Category:Individuals of unidentified species into two categories. jSarek (talk) 01:28, July 10, 2013 (UTC)
So, this is a continuation of the Mofference topic, now that I'm back at my computer. Category:Individuals of unidentified species is currently full of articles that, in my mind, actually fall into two separate categories:
- Characters who have been pictured or described, but who have not been assigned to a specific species with a name. For example, many of the articles created on background characters from comics. Two examples: Acme Droid Service salesman and Aurra Sing's father.
- Characters who have not been pictured or physically described, but instead have no information on their species. Many of the characters introduced in the Codex of Star Wars: The Old Republic or the Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia would fall into this category, as they have only been mentioned by name and there has been no mention of their species. For example, Joron Tal'vor and Elin Garza's third husband.
- Another excellent example: the Hero of Tython, Darth Nox, and the other TOR class characters. They aren't of a species that hasn't been named yet, we just don't know which of a species they are—in other words, it's unspecified.
Basically, the second category is separate from the first in that there is simply no information on what species the second category's occupants are. So, basically, I'm suggesting we split the pre-existing Category:Individuals of unidentified species along these two reasons I've outlined above. Category 1 individuals such as Aurra Sing's father would go in Individuals of unidentified species, and Category 2 individuals such as Joron Tal'vor would be given their own category at Category:Individuals of unspecified species. - Me likey. This may even allow for certain users of our wiki to further specify or identify them faster, hmm? -- Riffsyphon1024 07:29, June 28, 2013 (UTC)

- I like this, now that it's been explained so I can understand it. :P Also, I think "unspecified" is better. Good stuff.—Cal Jedi

- I'm on board. We just have to be very clear in the descriptions we give on the category pages as to what each is intended to cover. ~Savage

Discussion
- Currently, there is a Category:Individuals of unknown species that I created when I started to work on this, but I believe "unspecified" to be a more accurate and encyclopedic term. Cade

- Want me to kill off that category, since it will be obsolete? Trak Nar Ramble on 06:21, June 23, 2013 (UTC)
- Might be a good idea to keep it around until the end of the CT. If for no other reason than to make it easier to see which articles need their categories changed.—Cal Jedi
