To summarise the situation (which can be read in more detail on this thread), the layout of group/organization articles has had some trouble with consistency in the order of sections like descriptive sections in respect to History, largely because there is no codified order. As the remedy for this, may I present a new proposed subsection to the Wookieepedia:Layout Guide/In-universe:

Group and organization articles

Group and Organization Articles

Organization and group articles are to be organized using the following sections. Each of these sections may be subsectioned as necessary.

  1. Description details the structure and other properties of a group. Additional subsections can be included if enough information is available. Below are some suggestions for subsections.
    • A section on the ideology/purpose of the group, possible titles including Ideology, Politics, and Religion, describes the views of the group.
    • Organization (or a similar title such as Government) details the structure of the group.
    • Role (or a similar title such as Operations) covers what kind of missions the group, or members of the group, undertook.
    • Equipment (or a similar title such as Complement) details possessions of the group, in terms of tools, weapons, machinery, vehicles, and more.
    • Products describes merchandise an organization created, bought, and sold.
    • Skills and training covers what skills group members possessed and what training may have been provided for them to have received those skills while within the group.
    • Locations covers where the group operated, including aspects like headquarters, outposts, safehouses, and more.
  2. History chronicles the known history of the group in chronological order. Ideally, all appearances of the group in canon are described here.
  3. Members (or a similar title such as Commanders and crew, Leadership, Staff or Leaders and members) provides brief summaries of any individuals of particular importance that were part of, or led, the group.

Each of these three sections may be further subdivided as appropriate. Note: if anything in particular is of overwhelming significance concerning the group or organization, or a preponderance of information is available, a section of its own can be created.

Vetted by several fellow editors, this will codify the general ordering of sections in a group/organisation article while allowing flexibility for the ordering of relevant subsections, as well as not setting most titles in stone as there are a large range of group types and some topics may get covered in the same subsection. Precedents can also be made/used to establish a specific structure for certain types of groups if that is required.

This consensus is to add the proposed subsection into Wookieepedia:Layout Guide/In-universe between the subsections "Droid character articles" and "Planet and moon articles." Braha'tok enthusiast Hello there 15:55, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
