Short, sweet, and to the point: it's time to ban scrollboxes in infoboxes. This vote is to add the following bullet point to the Wookieepedia:Layout Guide#Infobox section:
{{ScrollBox}} or any other form of scrollbox should not be used for any field in the infobox.
For anyone on the fence, the reasons why:
Historically, scrollboxes have looked very ugly in infoboxes. They're compressed even more than most infobox fields.
It's a coin toss as to whether scrollboxes in general work on mobile. While that's something we can hopefully fix, it's still a mark against them.
Scrollboxes block my infoboxer script that is responsible for fixing & standardizing infobox structure. (yeah this is a personal beef but it's also important site-wise)
By their very definition, infoboxes are designed to be brief overviews of the article's topic, not to be a comprehensive listing of details. So combatant lists on battles, points of interests on planet articles, and the like should be fully documented in the body, not the infobox.
For example, this is what the First Battle of Geonosis currently looks like with scrollboxes in the infobox:

As proposer. Per Imp's suggestion, rather than putting any explicit constraints or suggestions on alternatives, I think it's best to just forbid scrollboxes and let status article precedent deal with the two hundred or so cases (Category:Infoboxes with scrollboxes and Category:Infoboxes with scrollboxes/Battle). As sad as I am to vote support since I was lucky enough to have both mobile and desktop work and look fine for me, the reality is that for most people it's either an eyesore or simply doesn't work. While I disagree that we should limit what's included in the infobox, without the scrollbox it just isn't viable. I hope eventually we can have a functioning non-ugly scrollbox for everyone. As I stated in Discord; removing scrollboxes from infoboxes doesn't necessarily mean having to be arbitrary in what we put in infoboxes, nor does this proposal address that at all (because I get that argument, I do, and I agree mostly). This proposal alone is just removing the scrollboxes, and the other argument in Discord to be left for another time. But, the technical constraints of infoboxes aren't going away, nor will Fandom fix them. And even though they apparently work for a small number of people without looking ugly, it's simply a fact that they look ugly as all heck for pretty much everyone else. And if we're trying to be the best SW resource out there, having something around that impedes any bot actively gets in the way of that, and is pretty much signing up for standardizing those infoboxes ourselves instead, and manual labor when not needed is a lose-lose.—spookywillowwtalk 02:57, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
Per point four, there's nothing wrong with omitting the exhaustive listing of stuff in an infobox if it can just be covered in the article's text instead. Imperators II(Talk) 11:23, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
As someone who has learned so much by looking at the list of combatants in infoboxes, I am conflicted. However, I do see how scroll boxes in the infobox can become messy and hard to follow. Therefore, removing any scrollboxes and reducing at least the information listed in these really long infoboxes will improve the overall appearance and legibility of the articles. -StarWarsFan327 (talk) 12:30, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
