It's finally time to move this policy update out of development hell! This little proposition was first drafted in the middle of 2021 as a 3-part CT meant to bring some much needed foundation to a subject that has been neglected on Wookieepedia for a long time. When the first part of the policy update, there was so few "person" status articles that you could count them on one hand. However, the second and third part were much more complex to hammer out. The third part was even dropped, we had to reconsider how to use the notion of "Bibliography", and 2022 passed without much progress from my part. At the same time, we saw a blooming in interest for "person" articles, with dozen upon dozen of articles passing our reviewing process, which introduced some precedents that are now going to be implemented into policy with this vote, and the establishment of several WookieeProjects dedicated fully and partially to contributors of Star Wars: Creators, Pride and Women.

But still, this much needed policy update was stalling, and Manoof was growing impatient :D . After he had codified the use of tables, an element essential to our work on "person" articles, he soon went on to draft is own version of the CT, not realizing one was already dormant in my workbench, the scoundrel ^^. After he shared his version on Discord, it motivated me to bring some point of contention in a Senate Hall, which expose most points of improvements. The work on the proposal was again delayed because of me for a few months, but we finally took the time to complete it!

Proposition

We, Manoof and NanoLuuke, propose that we update and partly rewrite the Out-of-universe Layout Guide subsection for Real-world person articles as follow:

Real-World Person Articles
Real-world person articles are to be organized using the following sections. Each of these sections may be subsectioned as necessary.
  1. Biography gives a detailed and comprehensive summary of the person's Star Wars career. With the exception of birth and death information, this section will limit its focus almost exclusively to the person's Star Wars contributions. The article may briefly note the highlights of a person's non-Star Wars career, where they are well known for a role or achievement outside of Star Wars. See Angela Morley and Gregory Manchess for examples on how brief this should be.
  2. Works gives a tabulated listing of the person's career works that is focused exclusively on Star Wars. The tables must contain Year and Title columns, with the possible addition of others, including but not limited to Contributions, Platforms, Format, and Notes. The subsections, as well as the content of the tables, must be organized in chronological order. Even in the instance where a person has only contributed to one media type, it must be subsectioned using the below subheadings:
    • Bibliography—for crediting books, written articles and comics.
    • Discography—for crediting music and audiobooks.
    • Filmography—for crediting video roles including film, television and online.
    • Gameography—for crediting tabletop or video game development.
    • Other works—for crediting other works that do not fall into the above, such as merchandise.

  3. Awards and nominations gives a tabulated listing of an individual's nominations and awards, exclusively for their Star Wars works.

Of course, the examples will have to be updated to fit with the update. Please note that all changes where detailed in the SH, with the notable exception of the rewrite of the Biography rule, a change which status article make apparent it was necessary to make the policy a bit elastic in the regard of including small mention of non-Star Wars works. I want to thanks anyone who contributed to the development of this policy, and also give a huge shout-out to our editors who contributed so much to shine a better light on Star Wars creators in the last two years!!!
