Hello all. Please consider our article on Cherami Leigh, specifically the placement of the {{Mediacat}} template on it. During the development of our Layout Guide's passages regarding that placement on both in-universe and out-of-universe articles, we have tried to foresee all the possible layout situations that would be relevant, but it appears that the presence of an External links section has apparently eluded that.

To clarify, under the current policy wording, the Mediacat on Leigh's article should be placed in Notes and references. It's obvious that, when viewed on desktop, it would be bumped down by the infobox anyway, so I think that placing it in External links is indeed the best solution here. Accordingly, I propose that we add the following sentence to both of the abovementioned LG clauses. Imperators II(Talk) 10:39, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Finally, if an infobox on an article with an "External links" section would interfere with the placement of the Mediacat template in "Notes and references," the template shall instead be placed in "External links."

  • Note that I have intentionally not proposed making External links the default lowest section Mediacat should be in, even for cases where an infobox would not interfere with it being in Notes and references. Venk is a relevant example article here, and personally I think it's best that the template is kept in Notes and references there instead of being moved down to External links.
