Hey all! It's almost been a month since my Senate Hall post on this topic and it didn't seem like there were any further concerns or feedback, so I figured I would just bring this to a formal vote as the topic was already a bit "niche" in the grand scheme of Wook policy changes.

The jist of this CT is that I propose that the External links section of the Layout Guide should be amended to make it more clear to editors that adding interwiki link templates such as {{SWBWiki}} in the External links sections of articles is actually allowed (in the "Databases" section of the linking hierarchy, as clarified by Imperators II in the original SH), since there has been some recent confusion and maybe even a bit of anger specifically towards adding these templates (which many articles still do not have) to status articles due to it being seen as against policy; specifically the part of the LG that mentions how "other relevant pages" listings are handled.

Additionally, interwiki template usage should of course not be done willy-nilly, as some wikis can tend to be moderated like the Wild West, might have problematic content, or even in some cases are run by people who are banned on Wook - so I also propose that there should also be a community-supported list of wikis which are endorsed for linking on the site, an idea which has been supported by others.

Please keep in mind while reading below that the Star Wars: Card Trader Wiki is excluded due to its purpose being covered by {{SWCT}}, and {{MinecraftWiki}} only exists on Wook as part of a special arrangement with Fandom itself. More info on the latter can be found in the original SH post.

This is my first ever CT, so here's hoping I did this right! 😛

Vote #1: Revision of WP:LG's External links section

Before:

Restrict "other relevant pages" listings only to the most critically relevant pages with respect to an article's coverage. Furthermore, those pages should be listed in chronological order of publication, instead of alphabetic order.
- Star Wars Blog posts from the Pop Culture; Quizzes and Polls; and Films categories are typically prime examples of pages that are not appropriate for the External links. However, any Blog post (featuring the article's subject) that is cited in the course of the article must be listed in the External links.
- Other pages (from non-official websites) cited in the course of the article that cover only a fraction of the article's subject should not be included in the External links. For example, an article only covering the announcement of the participation of a creator to a new work should not be included, unlike an article that would cover a large segment of their career. Interviews are considered particularly relevant, and should be systematically listed, as long as they focus on Star Wars.

After:

Vote #2: Addition of supported wikis list in WP:LG's External links section

This list would be added as a bullet point under the Layout Guide's External links section. The Aurebesh Wiki is pre-listed as it would be already grandfathered in after being approved for linking in May 2023.

Proposal:

In keeping with Wookieepedia's values, interwiki link templates to other wikis should be restricted to the list of communities below, which have been approved with consensus from the overall Wookieepedia community. Additions to or removals from this list should be organized with a Consensus track vote.

Necessary, because some prominent ones like the TCW/Rebels wikis were made by banned users solely to attack the main Wookieepedia out of spite. Hence if not on this list, can't be just simply mass-added without community approval first. And others like Recipe wiki are unmoderated to the point of gross violations, thus showing a true problem with letting individuals add literally whatever.—spookywilloww^talk 18:18, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

Voted without thinking because it's such a large CT, but, agreed. Fanpedia is allowed to be used in softredirects for some fan films via another policy. RN per whatlinkshere it's just being used to link to fanon and unlicensed fan projects in external links. Lack of moderation, wasteland, I don't see why someone should be able to make a fanon page of their favorite character and include it in External links on Wookieepedia with whatever false lore they choose.—spookywilloww^talk 18:29, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

- Just wanna add that it's best for us to not link anything to this wiki. Not only is it a wasteland and lacking in quality, but they also cover rather inappropriate content too. Bonzane10 09:32, 11 June 2025 (UTC)

Eek, I confused this with the Star Wars Fanon Wiki that we do direct folks who are interested in fan-fiction to. Thought that would've been useful for cancelled projects and the like. OOM 224 21:19, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
