This Consensus Track thread is regarding the image used in the infobox for Kazuda Xiono. The image has been changed a few times at this point but this is the first CT for it. It should be noted that the overall image for both options in this CT is the same; the options are merely regarding whether or not to keep the version without the background (current) or revert it to the version with the background (original).

Option 1: File:Kaz_Resistance.png (current version)
Option 2: File:Kaz_Resistance.png (old version)

Keep current transparent background image (Option 1)

  5. While I'm a fan of IU backgrounds remaining, I do not consider this an IU background. Just like every image featured here Premium-Era-real Exclusive 'Star Wars Resistance' Character Cards Reveal Team Fireball, BB-8, and More by Trumbore, Dave on Collider.com (August 30, 2018) (backup link archived on August 30, 2018) or the Aces' Databank photos, they all feel like school day photos with a simple backdrop. So I'm pro removing this background. I'm more mad we got 2 seasons of Kaz and a better photo hasn't dropped since the show's announcement. Revert to original (Option 2)

  1. I know the wiki as a whole has a tendency to vastly prefer versions of infobox images without backgrounds. I admittedly do not understand it the vast majority of the time as I feel the lack of backgrounds makes the infoboxes look like a weirdly-formatted document; with the backgrounds in the images the sense of linearity along the edges of the infobox continue and it doesn't just cut off into transparency. Infobox images without backgrounds just feel... empty to me. But my opinion on lack of backgrounds in infobox images aside, this specific case with Kaz is probably the first case where I'll actually push back on the background being removed. I'll admit the background doesn't provide anything substantial or, like, lore significant, but it makes the image appear much brighter and in my personal opinion, much nicer. Plus, my prior point about linearity with the rest of the infobox and the whole "transparency feels empty" thing applies to this case as well. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 16:59, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
  2. It really depends on the image. If the background doesn't distract from the image and, in this context, make the character presentation more complete with analogous colours and bright blue skies highlighting Kaz's signature positivity, then yeah, it works perfectly well.   3. I'm usually a proponent of transparent, but for this specific case seems fine. If the background had been pure white or something, then would've gone for transparent to avoid blinding dark mode users, but the skies seem nice.—spookywillowwtalk 17:41, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

  • While I'm voting in favor of the revert, I do want to note that if Option 1 is kept it should probably have the edges around Kaz neatened up as there's currently a slight blue outline around him leftover from the background. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 21:01, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
