Comic policy cleanup
Vote 1: Change to italics and number sign
This vote is to reorganize the Wookieepedia:Naming policy#Italics and number sign section (turning it into bullet points) and to codify how we italicize comic names. Bolded text is new/reworded.
- Do not include the number sign (#) in article titles, in-line text, the Appearances/Sources lists, or any other instance when referring to comic books, magazine issues, mangas, or any collections of such. Although some comic book and magazine issues may use the number sign in their published titles, such use of the number sign creates technical and applicable issues for Wookieepedia in certain instances.
- Do not italicize the issue number in the article titles of individual comic books or collections (examples: Knights of the Old Republic 18, Marvel Comics 1000, Doctor Aphra (2016) 38, Star Wars Adventures (2017) 28).
- Do not italicize descriptor words related to publishing info (examples: years and publisher) or format (examples: hardcover, limited edition, or trade paperback)
- As an exception, publishers should be italicized if their name is normally italicized.
- Do not italicize the following punctuation: periods and parentheses

Vote 2: Comic disambiguation
This vote is to change the first bullet point under Wookieepedia:Naming policy#Disambiguation 3 (Under "Comics and magazines") because "comic" is not a complete descriptor. Comic is usually referring to the book itself, while "comic story" refers to the specific story within. The change is as follows:
*To disambiguate comic stories, use "(comic)" (example: Sabotage (comic)).
to:
*To disambiguate comic stories, use "(comic story)" (example: Sabotage (comic story)).

Vote 3: The death of abbreviations
Currently we disambiguate comic collection either by (TPB) or (HC). While these are valid abbreviations, they are not the most formal version of these words. So this vote is to change the third bullet point under Wookieepedia:Naming policy#Disambiguation 3 (Under "Comics and magazines") from:
*To disambiguate comic-book collected editions, use "(TPB)" for trade paperbacks and "(HC)" for hardcovers.
to
*To disambiguate trade paperbacks, use "(trade paperback)" (example: Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle (trade paperback)) *To disambiguate hardcovers, use "(hardcover)" (example: Star Wars: Shattered Empire (hardcover))

vicious bickeringcivil discussion where Dani annoyingly made some semi-good points about the pipelinking.... eh. I suppose. My main reason for opposing was how clean "Series Name TPB" looks as a pipelink, but... consistency. CadeCalrayn 20:21, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

- I like using (TPB) but would prefer (hardcover) so I guess I'm stuck voting over here (maybe it's because TPB is abbreviating multiple words, idk) JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 12:19, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

Vote 4: Adjusting how we name trade paperbacks and hardcovers
This vote is to slot the below paragraph into the Wookieepedia:Naming policy#Individual comic issues section (right before Disambiguation). While this section is named "Individual comic issues" I believe the best path is to squeeze this paragraph in now, and then reorganize the whole comic section after all these changes pass/don't pass. Note: If this passes, the hardcover example for Vote 3 will need to be changed (if Vote 3 passes). But as far I've found, there aren't have hardcovers that aren't disambiguated by their publisher already.
Comic collections should use the name provided by the publisher's website when available (examples: Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin HC and Star Wars: Splinter of the Mind's Eye TPB; IDW Publishing's Star Wars Adventures Omnibus, Vol. 1; and Marvel Comics' Star Wars: Obi-Wan and Anakin (Trade Paperback) and Star Wars: Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Shattered Empire (Hardcover))

- I understand this looks inconsistent, but I think we have to respect each publisher's own formatting choice. Vote 3 allows us to disambiguate consistently when publishers fail to disambiguate at all. NBDani

- Honestly, no, I disagree. The parentheticals aren't part of the actual titles of the publications if you actually look at the media themselves. And basing our parentheticals on multiple publishers' inconsistent (even among the publisher itself) naming just doesn't sit right with me. There's no guarantee that the publishers' website will continue to use those parentheticals in the future, and I've seen Marvel TPBs listed on other retailers with "TPB". Plus, TPB and HC are official industry abbreviations, and it'd made the pipelinks to the TPBs/HCs in the Collections sections unwieldy and inconsistent. Cade
