Running this through without a SH based on the last SH/CT having a lot of feedback from the usual crop. Also sort of stemmed from just, Fandom bugs, and that we didn't account for gifs.

To change:

Adding alt text to an image is optional. If included, it should be placed directly before the caption.

Note that alt text should not be included on images and animations used in infoboxes and galleries, as it will not work if added. Further help with how to effectively implement alt text can be found on Help:Adding images on Fandom's Community Central.

With a formal note that, when Fandom someday fixes that, we can simply remove the line about it not working wholesale. But also it's, honestly, super low priority for them and could very well be years, so we shouldn't be adding it when it doesn't work. And having it here means we're able to say it's noted somewhere, rather than sort of being told after the fact via Discord.—spookywillowwtalk
