- "One of the members of Fori's team had baked fresh finger cakes frosted with ground palm sugar."
- ―Marda Ro, in her journal
Finger cakes were a small type of cake edible by the Evereni species.[1] At some point no earlier than 379 BBY,[2] a feast was held on the Gaze Electric, a starship belonging to Marda Ro—the Evereni[1] founder of a group of marauders who would eventually become the Nihil[3]—for which a being serving Ro baked finger cakes frosted with ground palm sugar. During the feast, Vika Faer—an Evereni who was staying with Ro's raiders—came over to Ro to sit with[1] her,[4] bringing Ro a small plate of the finger cakes. Ro took one of the finger cakes and nibbled on it throughout their exchange.[1]
Ro later mentioned the finger cakes in a recording she made for her descendants.[1] By 252 BBY,[5] during his youth, Ro's great-great-grandson Marchion Ro had listened to her memoirs, including the message where finger cakes were mentioned.[4]
Behind the scenes
Finger cakes appeared in a flashback in the short story "A Closed Fist Has No Claws," written by Tessa Gratton and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[1]
