- «So we're no longer going to Sharb? You said earlier that you wanted to draw more attention to the Xodlak.»
«That was earlier. As I said, a new direction. The Xodlak are only minor players, as befits their status as one of the Forty.» - ―Generalirius Nakirre and "Jixtus"
Sharb was a terrestrial astronomical object located in the Unknown Regions' Sharb system, within the Chiss Ascendancy nation. By 19 BBY, the Chiss Syndic Mitth'ras'safis received a report on crop projections for Sharb's northern hemisphere. In 18 BBY, the Grysk operative known as "Jixtus" planned to visit the celestial body to draw more attention to the residing Xodlak family as part of his plan to instigate a Chiss civil war; however, he ultimately chose to instead travel to the Chiss planet Ornfra.
Description
The terrestrial astronomical object Sharb was located in[3] the Unknown Regions'[1] Sharb system,[2] within the Chiss Space of the Chiss Ascendancy nation.[3] It was situated in grid square F-8 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[2] Crops were present in Sharb's northern hemisphere.[3]
History
By 19 BBY,[4] Syndic Mitth'ras'safis, core name "Thrass," of the Chiss Mitth family received a report on crop projections for Sharb's northern hemisphere.[3] In 18 BBY,[5] the Grysk operative known as "Jixtus" and Generalirius Nakirre, the ruler of the Kilji Illumine nation, planned to travel to Sharb, where they intended to draw more attention to the residing Chiss Xodlak family as part of Jixtus's[3] plot to engineer a Chiss civil war.[6]
However, after one of the operative's shipyards was destroyed by Chiss forces, the Grysk decided to instead travel to the Chiss planet Ornfra in order to destroy the Clarr light cruiser Orisson and incite open combat between the Clarr and Dasklo families, thus igniting a Chiss civil war. Ultimately, Jixtus did not personally travel to Ornfra, instead sending his Shatter-class WarMaster FateSpinner to the planet to ambush and destroy the Orisson. When the Orisson fled the subsequent engagement, the warship's commander, Captain Clarr'os'culry "Roscu," believed that the Grysk WarMaster could not have narrowed her starship's destination farther down than to between Sharb, Ornfra, and the celestial bodies Noris and Schesa.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, Sharb was mentioned in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, the final installment of Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy Trilogy.[3] It was also pictured on a map provided by publisher Del Rey as a bonus for preordering the novel.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Sharb was mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[7]
