"Yeah? Well, I don't like him. He's got a little operation in there that's messing with my business interests."

A male[3] Duros kingpin[2] took the possession of[2] a casino[4] by some time between c. 62 BBY and 33 BBY.[1] The establishment was located in the back of The Corner Shop on the planet of Duro, and its customers needed to wander through the shopping aisles to reach the entry door. The man surrounded himself with individuals who assisted him when welcoming the newcomers or when tossing some customers out through a door that backed onto a dark street alley. In addition, he utilized security droids to deal with troublemakers.[2]

At some point between c. 62 BBY and 33 BBY,[1] the Duros casino owner tossed out a Rodian customer through a backdoor that faced a dark alley. The kingpin told[2] the man[3] to scram and waited in the company of a Twi'lek worker until the patron ran away. As the Rodian dashed away, the casino owner screamed for them not to come back until they paid their debts. The incident was witnessed by two Duros street children, Colby and Niro. When one[2] of the boys[3] accidentally bumped a bottle, the kingpin turned around and started telling off the younglings, who countered his lecture by blowing a raspberry. With the boys having run out of his view, the kingpin and his Twi'lek companion went back inside the casino.[2]

Meanwhile, the boys had caught the interest of the local bounty hunter Lazlo.[2] The man[3] gifted them a coin that they would use in The Corner Shop, just where the secret casino was located. While the younglings were busy picking up their products, an Aqualish clerk watched as a human casino customer walked down the shop aisle to knock at the backdoor. The kingpin scanned the newcomer through a viewhole before allowing[2] him[3] in and welcoming him back, with the same Twi'lek casino worker standing right beside him.[2]

The following morning, the boys were recruited by Lazlo to create a diversion so that he and his gang could heist the casino. The bounty hunter argued that the casino owner's operation impeded his business interests. Colby and Niro agreed to the deal, believing that the owner did not like them. In the evening, the kingpin had greeted the same human customer again, wishing him more luck than he had had the previous day.[2]

At the same time, Colby and Niro started to cause trouble in the back alley by throwing garbage at the backdoor and otherwise making noise. The Duros kingpin shortly came to the scene and scolded the younglings, accusing them of disturbing his customers. When one of the boys laughed, the casino owner whistled for two security droids, failing to notice as Lazlo's gang sneaking behind his very back. It was not until he heard some clamor inside that the kingpin had his droid re-enter the building to deal with the intruders. As the gang fled down the street, Colby and Niro rushed to join them, and the casino owner gave chase, screaming for them to get back. When he was about to exit the alley, Lazlo emerged from behind an adjacent building wall and gunned him down with a single blaster shot, causing him to groan as he collapsed to the ground. The boys kept staring at the dead man's body before they joined Lazlo's gang again.[2]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 The events of "The Good Life" occur before Cad Bane takes up the life of a bounty hunter. According to Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, Bane was estimated to be 41 years old in the year 7956 C.R.C., eleven years after the 7945 C.R.C. Boonta Eve Classic of Neva Kee's disappearance. As Star Wars: Timelines dates that race to 32 BBY, it can be calculated that Bane was born around the year 62 BBY. Furthermore, Darth Maul (2017) 3 shows that Bane is already a bounty hunter by the time of its events, which occur in 33 BBY according to Timelines. Therefore, the events of "The Good Life" must take place between c. 62 BBY and 33 BBY.
