- "This is Sefin Garoby… I have crashed on a moon called Toshara. Regretfully, none of the Clone troopers survived… The moon does not appear in any of the records, but it's a developed world with a mostly human population. They don't speak Basic but my protocol droid speaks an old language that seems to approximate their native tongue. The people are peaceful and unaware of the war. I will send more reports as soon as possible."
- ―Transmission from Sefin Garoby
Sefin Garoby was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic whose transport shuttle crashed on the Outer Rim moon Toshara during the Clone Wars, in which the Galactic Republic fought against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The shuttle crash resulted in the deaths of all clone troopers aboard, leaving just Garoby and their protocol droid as survivors. The pair later met the local Tosharans, who repaired the crashed shuttle, allowing Garoby to return the war.
Biography
- "This is Sefin Garoby… we had a funeral for the Clone Troopers today, and many of the locals helped organize it. These are kind, good-hearted people…something I haven't experienced in a while, since the war broke out. I also received assistance from a couple of mechanics who are trying to repair the transport shuttle. While it doesn't seem like there are any other ships with functioning hyperdrives, they are confident they can get it working again."

Sefin Garoby crash landed on the moon Toshara
Sefin Garoby served with the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, a galactic conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems[1] that took place from 22 BBY to 19 BBY.[2] At one point during the war, Garoby was aboard a transport shuttle with their protocol droid and a group of clone troopers that crashed on the Outer Rim moon Toshara, resulting in the deaths of the troopers and damage to the starship's hyperdrive. Following the crash, Garoby and their protocol droid made contact with the local Tosharans, who had been isolated from the rest of the galaxy and were not aware of the war nor spoke Galactic Basic. Garoby's protocol droid managed to communicate with the Tosharans by using an old language that approximated the Toshari spoken by the locals.[1]
The Tosharans helped organize a funeral for the clone troopers killed in the crash, much to Garoby's appreciation. Around the same time, a couple of mechanics offered to help repair the shuttle's hyperdrive, a task they were confident they could complete despite the lack of hyperdrive technology on Toshara at the time. While the mechanics worked on the shuttle, Garoby continued to learn about the Tosharans and their way of life on Toshara. When the shuttle was repaired, Garoby departed the planet to continue their mission to[1] the planet[3] Felucia. However, before departing, Garoby left their protocol droid with the Tosharans, who had expressed interest in learning Galactic Basic and establishing trade routes with the galaxy—a task Garoby hoped to see following the end of the war.[1]
While on Toshara, Garoby made at least four reports, which they broadcast to the Galactic Republic, copies of which were captured by equipment that remained in orbit above Toshara through the end of the war and into the reign of the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire.[1]
Four of the transmissions were discovered by the scoundrel Kay Vess[1] in 3 ABY. That same year,[4] Vess's companion ND-5, a BX-series droid commando, was able to use Garoby's reports along with several other Clone Wars–era transmissions to track down a Separatist base on the Outer Rim jungle planet Akiva.[1]
Personality and traits
- "This is Sefin Garoby. The mechanics are making good progress on the transport shuttle, so I hope to soon be able to return to my mission. Even though it has been a nice respite from the war, it reminds me that the Republic is fighting for the same peace I found here…"
- ―Transmission from Sefin Garoby
Sefin Garoby believed in the Galactic Republic and the peace they thought it represented.[1]
Skills and abilities
Garoby spoke Galactic Basic.[1]
Behind the scenes
Sefin Garoby's voice appeared in four collectible transmissions in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. The four collectible transmissions, titled "Sefin's Journey 01" through 04 were part of the "Separatist Transmissions" expert intel quest, which eventually points the player to MT-7, one of nine Experts whom the player can meet and complete quests for in order to gain various abilities.[1]
