"What can I get you?"
"Got any Tovash?"
"No."
―A serving droid and Andrik Keller — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

Tovash was a beverage potable by members of the Er'Kit species that partially[1] shared its name with the Mid Rim astronomical object Tovash Tchii.[2] In 231 BBY,[3] during the High Republic Era, the Er'Kit Nihil pirate Andrik Keller traveled to a cantina on[1] the Outer Rim[2] Ash Worlds planet Sran. After being asked by a serving droid what it could get him, Keller asked the droid if it had any Tovash, to which the droid responded it did not. Keller ultimately drank vematoid.[1]

Tovash was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in The High Republic: Tempest Runner, a 2021 audio drama written by Cavan Scott and published as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[4] Phase I.[5] The spelling of the beverage's name was later confirmed with the release of the audio drama's script in 2022.[1]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Gruvian Tovash was an alcoholic beverage that first appeared in "Big Quince," a short story published in the second issue of Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine in May 1994. The short story was written by Peter M. Schweighofer and illustrated by John Paul Lona.[6] The beverage was first referred to as simply Tovash in "The Great Herdship Heist," a short story written by Daniel Wallace that was published in the fifteenth issue of Star Wars Adventure Journal in November 1997.[7]
