Cingulons were a sentient species with pebbly skin and flanged faces. A Cingulon senator served in the Imperial Senate during the time of the Galactic Empire. Dellso Prin was a Cingulon mechanic who joined the Resistance as a cargo pilot.
Biology and appearance
Cingulons were a bipedal species with two legs and two arms. On their arms, they had two hands, with three fingers on each hand. They had large bodies covered in rocky, pebbly skin. Their heads had jagged flanges that framed the face, at the top of this structure was a distinct V-shaped dip. At the bottom of the face were two elongated orifice tubes, which lay along the sides of the face and followed the lower contours of the head. Their noses were upturned and featured triangular nostrils.[1]
Cingulon in the galaxy
A Cingulon senator speaks with fellow senator Mon Mothma.
In 3 BBY, a Cingulon senator walked through the halls of the Imperial Senate and shared an elevator with Mon Mothma. During their conversation, Mothma attempted to persuade the senator to challenge Emperor Palpatine's extension of the Public Order Resentencing Directive, as she needed additional votes against the measure. She cited rising conviction numbers that the Empire permitted the public to see, including figures from peaceful worlds such as Kaifo, Tepasi, and Ghorman. The senator responded that linking Ghorman to any political argument at that time would not be advisable.[2]
The Cingulon Dellso Prin worked as a used starship seller and mechanic. During the First Order-Resistance War, he maintained loose ties to the Resistance and, after the organization established a base on the moon Ajan Kloss, transported cargo and supplies to it. Prin was drawn to the Resistance by the opportunity to work on legendary ships such as the Tantive IV and Millennium Falcon.[1] In 35 ABY[3] Prin was present at the base when Jedi-in-training Rey returned from a training course in the surrounding jungle. As Rey spoke with General Leia Organa, Prin stood by an entry ramp to the Tantive IV, holding a datapad and conversing with another Resistance member.[4]
Behind the scenes
The Cingulon species first appeared in J.J. Abrams's 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[4] Although they were not named on screen they were eventually identified in Pablo Hidalgo's book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary[1] which was released the same day as the film.[5] In The Rise of Skywalker, the sole Cingulon, Dellso Prin, was portrayed by Nick Kellington.[6] Six years later, Kellington returned to play another Cingulon in the Star Wars: Andor episode "Ever Been to Ghorman?."[2]
