The Abandoned Hideout was a base used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. It was located in the Karaba Foothills region of Akiva, a jungle planet in the Outer Rim Territories. A unit of Separatist droids which included the BX-series droid commando MT-7 and B-series battle droids Unit 416, Unit 437, and Unit 647. During a monsoon, units 416 and 437 were deployed to the field while 647 and MT-7 remained at the base. The monsoon spelled doom of the unit; preventing 416 and 437 from returning, causing 647 to be deactivated, and leaving MT-7 active yet immobile.[1]

In 3 ABY,[2] the scoundrel Kay Vess was able to decode a number of Clone Wars era transmissions which ultimately directed her to the hideout. Vess eventually landing her EML-850 light freighter at the hideout Vess met the still active MT-7. After impersonating a member of CIS Special Operations, MT-7 requested Vess's help tracking down his unit to which she agreed. She returned to the hideout after finding the unit and completing their mission and with her companion ND-5's permission MT-7 finally deactivated.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Abandoned Hideout appeared in the 2024 video game, Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. The location is part of the "Veteran" expert quest which unlocks additional abilities for the players. However it is possible to complete the game without completing the mission or even visiting the location.
