Ganandra: "Dobbs, you still with us?"
Ro: "Is he—"
Dobbs: "He's alive. But his head is ringing like a Ferrixian chime, so back the hell off."
―Shea Ganandra, Marda Ro, and Sunshine Dobbs[1]

A Ferrixian chime was a type of musical instrument that rung when struck and[1] shared its name with the Outer Rim planet Ferrix.[2] After the prospector Sunshine Dobbs crashed his yacht, the Scupper, on[1] the Wild Space[3] planet Planet X, he was found by his associates sprawling over the controls of the Scupper with his head awkwardly resting against the yoke.[1]

The Path of the Open Hand cult member Shea Ganandra then shook Dobbs and asked if he was still with them, leading the Guide of the Open Hand Marda Ro to begin to ask if he was dead or alive. In response, the prospector groaned and stated he was alive, noting his head was ringing like a Ferrixian chime, and warned them to back off.[1]

Behind the scenes

A Ferrixian chime was mentioned in the 2023 young-adult novel The High Republic: Path of Vengeance, written by Cavan Scott as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase II.[4]
