Escalan was a primitive planet[3] located in the Escalan system in the Cademimu sector of the Outer Rim Territories[2] that was home to a species.[1] Between around 8 BBY and 2 BBY,[4] the smuggler Han Solo was dumped onto Escalan by the crew of Khel Tanna after he was shot by the Rodian bounty hunter Greedo.[3] Solo was taken to a local doctor by two members of the species, and awoke one week later.[1] During his time on Escalan, Solo went for a drink, but was unable to communicate with the natives as they did not speak basic. As he made his way out of the building, he saw an Imperial news report that mentioned upcoming executions to be carried out by the Benelex Marshal Service, including his friend, the Wookiee Chewbacca. Solo then went to a acquire a ship to get off-world and rescue his friend, and came across a merchant who had a ship. The pair then left Escalan.[3]
