- "So you know everything, huh?"
"Just the things that are important to us." - ―Kay Vess and Eleera
Eleera Soi was a female Twi'lek who worked for Crimson Dawn. She was one of the few survivors in a mission to retrieve a Jedi artifact. By 3 ABY, she served as a Crimson Dawn operative and contract on the planet Toshara.
Biography
Eleera Soi got to know future Dawn leader Qi'ra (pictured) during a mission to Thorum and ensuing training.
Eleera Soi was a Twi'lek female[2] born sometime around 35 BBY.[1] Soi was originally recruited into the criminal organization Crimson Dawn after being noticed by the syndicate lieutenants while participating in rigged fights in the competitive fighting circuit. On the planet Thorum, she joined Qi'ra, Myem and Qorsha on a collection job in the city of Calda. She determined Qi'ra was a formidable warrior and offered to train her in the use of vibroblades. Reaching the business, she intimidated the owner and was impressed when Qi'ra did the same. Despite getting the credits, she threatened to burn the business down. The group left the business and Soi revealed that she had been sent along by Cerveteri Slane to observe and see if Qi'ra would fail the mission. After collecting the money owed to Crimson Dawn, Soi and the rest of the group went to a shop that was delinquent in paying for three months in a row. She gave her flamethrower to Qi'ra, who used it to set fire to a tree outside the business.[2]
She provided Qi'ra with combat lessons in exchange for knowledge about the White Worms and how they managed to take over the underworld of the planet Corellia. After receiving a mission to sabotage and steal ships from a local criminal organization, Soi asked Qi'ra to join her in a trip to the shipyard for some reconnaissance. While there, she expressed discontent that Cerveteri hadn't provided them with all the details about the target. After leaving Thorum, she returned to the First Light and trained with the Hylobon guards while staying in the barracks on the lower levels of the yacht. Soi attended some of Vos's parties where she would work the crowd and gather information.[2]
Contact on Toshara
By 3 ABY,[3] Soi served as a Crimson Dawn contact and operative on the planet Toshara. When the thief Kay Vess accepted a Crimson Dawn contract to steal information from Pyke Syndicate boss Gorak Palas, Soi called Vess under a disguised voice, giving her directions on infiltrating Palas' base. After Vess successfully completed the contract, she returned to Makal's Gambling Parlor, where she was greeted by the broker Danka Orsato and Soi. Soi congratulated Vess on the mission, before promising to hide her from the crime syndicate Zerek Besh, which had placed a death mark on Vess, if she continued to work for the Dawn. She then gave Vess two fuel injectors, before stating that they would meet again and telling her that Bram Shano, Vess's friend, was healing from his injuries.[1]
After Vess brought the fuel injectors to her ship, the Trailblazer, in the settlement Jaunta's Hope, Soi approached her for another mission: infiltrate an Imperial dockyard in Toshara space to delete some data, before pinning the operation on the Pyke Syndicate. When Vess wondered how she could trust the Dawn, Soi replied that she couldn't, but that was the game she had to play. Despite her mechanic Waka's reservations, Vess successfully completed the mission, choosing to either frame the Pykes as planned or betraying and framing the Dawn instead.[1]
Personality and traits
Soi was well-muscled and confident in her ability to defend herself. She looked down on almost everyone and was terse and solitary.[2] Due to her close relationship with Qi'ra, she was afforded a large degree of trust to carry out her work as she saw fit. She was not interested in leading a syndicate or group, instead she preferred to stay in the shadows to ensure she had the opportunity to slip away if things became complicated. Soi had olive skin and brown eyes.[1]
Equipment
Soi wore brightly colored bodysuits with knives hidden inside. She carried a small silvery flamethrower.[2] While on Toshara[1] in 3 ABY,[3] Soi wore a red shirt, a red jacket, a Crimson Dawn belt, black fingerless gloves, gray pants and black boots.[1]
Behind the scenes
Eleera Soi was created for[4] the 2024 Massive Entertainment[1] video game Star Wars Outlaws. Prior to the game's release,[4] she debuted in the 2023 young-adult novel Crimson Climb, written by E. K. Johnston.[2] Later, Outlaws identified Eleera's last name as Soi and featured her first visual depiction.[1] Johnston noted that she added Soi to Crimson Climb at the request of those she was working with, as Outlaws had been under development at the time. When the author questioned whether the character needed to be doing anything specific in the novel, she was given the freedom to write what she wished, having only been given a vague description and early sketch of Soi to work with. Johnston was unaware which video game Soi would eventually feature in, having only been told that she was a game character.[4]
