An ejector seat was a seat designed to forcibly eject the occupant clear of a starship during an in-flight emergency.[6]
History

During the Siege of Mandalore between the Galactic Republic and Maul's Shadow Collective, the Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunships of the 501st Legion were equipped with ejector seats.[10] Z-95 Headhunters were also equipped with ejector seats.[11] During the Rebellion on Akiva, the New Republic starfighter pilot Norra Wexley discovered that the Galactic Empire's TIE fighters did indeed carry ejector seats. She was able to eject to safety after her stolen TIE was hit by turbolaser fire.[6] The TIE/sf space superiority fighters used by the First Order were equipped with such seats. Those included an explosive launcher mechanism, and emergency rations beneath the seat.[3]
