Earbud comlinks were tiny, unobtrusive comlinks that could fit within a user's ear. They could be activated by touching an ear or by clicking one's teeth. Once activated, earbud comlinks allowed their user to talk normally or subvocally. They were powered by low-output power cells and had significantly less range than normal comlinks. Earbud comlinks cost 75 credits on the market and were popular among spies, ambassadors, and the criminal underground.[1]
Behind the scenes
Earbud comlinks were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Cyphers and Masks,[1] a 2018 sourcebook for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[2] They originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first mentioned in Galaxy of Intrigue, a 2010 hardcover supplement to the Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition Core Rulebook by Wizards of the Coast.[3]
