Dunder was one of the eight reindeer owned by[1] the Jedi Knight[2] Santa Claus, alongside Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Vixen, Cupid, and Blixem. Dunder pulled Claus' sleigh on the annual holiday Christmas, to assist him in his delivery of presents to children throughout the galaxy. After he became unable to deliver all the presents by himself, Santa enlisted the help of his son S. Claus, who would also ride in his father's sleigh. On one occasion while working in a droid toy factory, the protocol droid C-3PO watched Santa, whom he mistook for S. Claus, load presents onto his sleigh and command Dunder and the other reindeer to take him away.[1]

Behind the scenes

Dunder was mentioned in Christmas in the Stars,[1] a non-canon 1980 Christmas album produced by RSO Records that featured Star Wars–themed Christmas songs.[3] The track in which Dunder is featured, "A Christmas Sighting," is a reference to the real-world Christmas song, The Night Before Christmas,[1] which introduced the Christmas legends of Santa Claus's eight reindeer.[4]
