Dancer was one of eight reindeer under the ownership of[1] the Jedi Knight[2] Santa Claus, alongside Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder, and Blixem. The eight reindeer pulled Claus' sleigh on the annual holiday Christmas, to assist him in his delivery of presents to children throughout the galaxy. After he became unable to deliver all the presents by himself, Santa enlisted the help of his son S. Claus, who would also ride in his father's sleigh. On one occasion while working in a droid toy factory, the protocol droid C-3PO watched as Santa, whom he mistook for S. Claus, loaded presents onto his sleigh and commanded Dancer and the other reindeer to take him away.[1]

Behind the scenes

Dancer was mentioned in Christmas in the Stars,[1] a non-canon 1980 Christmas album produced by RSO Records that featured Star Wars–themed Christmas songs.[3] The track in which Dancer is featured, "A Christmas Sighting," is a reference to the real-world Christmas song, The Night Before Christmas,[1] which introduced the Christmas legends of Santa Claus's eight reindeer.[4]
