Dasher was one of eight reindeer under the ownership of[1] the Jedi Knight[2] Santa Claus. Alongside Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder, and Blixem, Dasher pulled Claus' sleigh on the annual holiday Christmas, to assist him in his delivery of presents to children throughout the galaxy. After Santa became unable to deliver all the presents by himself, he enlisted the help of his son S. Claus, who would also ride in Santa's sleigh. On one occasion while working in a droid toy factory, the protocol droid C-3PO watched as Santa, whom he mistook for S. Claus, loaded presents onto his sleigh and commanded Dasher, as well as the other reindeer, to take him away.[1]

Behind the scenes

Dasher was mentioned in Christmas in the Stars,[1] a non-canon 1980 Christmas album produced by RSO Records that featured Star Wars–themed Christmas songs.[3] The track in which Dasher is featured, "A Christmas Sighting," is a reference to the real-world Christmas song, The Night Before Christmas,[1] which introduced the Christmas characters of Santa Claus's eight reindeer.[4]
