- "In the last weeks alone, the Defense Coalition has engaged on Carlac, Magaveene, and in the Dreighton Nebula."
- ―Jedi Master Avar Kriss
The Dreighton Nebula was a nebula in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories,[2] situated in the Dantus sector in square J-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[3] In 231 BBY,[5] during the High Republic Era, the Republic Defense Coalition engaged the Nihil marauders in the Dreighton Nebula as part of Operation: Counterstrike, a Galactic Republic and Jedi Order campaign to defeat the group following the Valo Atrocity. Later, during a briefing of the Republic Defense Coalition on the Republic space station Starlight Beacon shortly prior to Battle of Galov, Jedi Master Avar Kriss used their engagement with the Nihil on Magaveene as an example of the continued success of Operation: Counterstrike.[4]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon continuity, the Dreighton Nebula was first mentioned in[4] the 2021[6] audio drama The High Republic: Tempest Runner,[4] which was published as part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative,[6] with its canon spelling being confirmed by the release of the drama's script book in 2022.[7] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Dreighton Nebula first appeared in the video game Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire, released in 1995.[8]
