The Dauntless was an[1] Imperial II-class Star Destroyer[2] that was in service of the Galactic Empire. It was commanded by Moff Raythe, and carried experimental satellites crucial to Operation: Cinder following the Battle of Endor. Due to this, the Dauntless participated in the attack on Fondor while docked at an Imperial dockyard, during which the Rebel Alliance attempted to hijack the vessel after it was bombarded with ion cannons.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Dauntless first appeared in Star Wars Battlefront II, a canon video game that was developed by DICE, Motive Studios, and Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts on November 17, 2017.[1] The Dauntless shares its name with the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Dauntless[5] that appeared in the 2016 live-action film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[6] Star Wars: Timelines depicts the Dauntless with an image used to represent an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer by the "Starships of the Empire and the Rebellion" issue of De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia.[2]
