Danite was a type of crystal. Either a danite or kathracite crystal was present in each of the Jedi Order's training lightsabers—a non-lethal lightsaber variant that utilized an ultra-low-output power generator and created a blade that did not cause lasting damage to an opponent.[1]

Behind the scenes

Danite was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2019 Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars Roleplaying supplement Rise of the Separatists.[1] The crystal was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was mentioned in the 1996 roleplaying game sourcebook Tales of the Jedi Companion, written by George R. Strayton and published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2]
