Danite was a type of Adegan crystal that could be used as a focusing crystal of a lightsaber. Within the Adegan family of crystals, danite was of medium rarity, being rarer than relacite and more common than mephite.[1] Danite did not channel and focus energy as well as mephite,[2] leading to a decreased severity of damage caused by the blade of a lightsaber using danite as a focusing crystal; however, in that regard it was still better than relacite.[1]
Either a danite or kathracite crystal was present in each of the Jedi Order's training lightsabers—a non-lethal lightsaber variant that utilized an ultra-low-output power generator and created a blade that did not cause lasting damage to an opponent.[3] The materials needed to craft a synthetic danite crystal costed three hundred credits.[2]
Behind the scenes
Danite was mentioned in the 1996 roleplaying game sourcebook Tales of the Jedi Companion, written by George R. Strayton and published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[1]
