Cuyacan was a planet located in the Cuyacan system within the Sepan sector[3] of the Slice[2] and Expansion Region,[1] in grid square P-13 on the Standard Galactic Grid,[3] that had a princess some time after the fall of the Galactic Empire. It was said that the smuggler Ana Tolla had stolen a diamond choker from the princess while she was still wearing it.[4]

At some point after the Garsea family left the planet Batuu[4] in 21 ABY,[5] the Frinn Mak Traveling Circus was heading to Cuyacan when they rescued the smuggler Izal Garsea aboard her starship, the Meridian, after it ran out of fuel and became stranded in space.[4] The historian Eloc Throno included the planet on a map in his book, Traveler's Guide to Batuu,[1] which was published in 34 ABY.[6]

Behind the scenes

Cuyacan was first mentioned in the 2019 novel A Crash of Fate, written by Zoraida Córdova.[4]

  5. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of A Crash of Fate to 34 ABY. The novel establishes that Izal Garsea left Batuu when she was five years old, and as the novel takes place on the day before and day of Izal Garsea's eighteenth birthday, she must have left the planet in 21 ABY.
  6. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: Traveler's Guide to Batuu establishes that at the time of the book's setting the Resistance was based on Batuu. Star Wars: Timelines dates both the establishment of the Batuu Resistance base and its eventual relocation to Ajan Kloss to 34 ABY. Therefore, the in-universe guide must have been authored that year.
