Cunning of Tyranus was a unique red lightsaber crystal named for the Human Separatist leader Count Dooku, whose Sith Lord title was Darth Tyranus. When used in the construction of a lightsaber, it colored the blade red. Once tuned by a Force-sensitive, it became a focusing crystal and could only be used in a lightsaber constructed by the individual who tuned it.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Cunning of Tyranus appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[2] The Cunning of Tyranus was added to the game with the introduction of the "Rare Loot System," released with the Hotfix 17.10 on October 7, 2010.[3] This system allowed players to obtain increasingly rare items from any enemy in the game. Players of the Jedi profession could use this crystal in their lightsaber, which gave the weapon a heat-based damage bonus.[1]
