"About the blight. Wait. None of you know yet, do you?"
"Oh, no. What now?"
"I'm so sorry, but…they've found the blight on Kashyyyk."
―Condola Oquine and Dez Rydan, before the Padawan informs Burryaga[1]

Condola Oquine was a Force-sensitive individual who served as a Jedi Padawan in the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era. In 228 BBY, Oquine sought out the Wookiee Jedi Knight Burryaga Agaburry at the Jedi Temple on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant after the blight affliction was found on his homeworld, the Mid Rim planet Kashyyyk.

After finding Burryaga with a group of other Jedi, the Padawan asked if the news was true. The group thought Oquine referred to a rumor that Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro had been located, and told the Padawan the Jedi High Council was assessing intel about Ro. Oquine then stated they were not asking about Ro, before telling Burryaga about the discovery of the blight on Kashyyyk.

Biography

"Is it true?"
"If only we knew. The Council is evaluating the intel about Ro as we—"
"Not about him."

Condola Oquine was an individual who served as a Jedi Padawan in the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era.[1] In 228 BBY,[2] Oquine was present at the Jedi Temple on[1] the Core Worlds[3] planet Coruscant when the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic became aware of a rumor that Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro—the leader of the Nihil pirate organization the Jedi and Republic were in conflict with—had been spotted by a probe droid outside of the Nihil's Occlusion Zone region of space. At the same time, the affliction known as the blight was discovered on[1] the Mid Rim[3] planet Kashyyyk.[1]

Oquine rushed to a terrace at the Jedi Temple to find the Wookiee[1] Jedi Knight[4] Burryaga to ask him if the news about the blight was true. The Padawan located Burryaga with a group of others consisting of[1] Jedi Knights[1][4] Dez Rydan, Reath Silas, and Bell Zettifar, as well as the former[1] Jedi Master[3] Cohmac Vitus. After arriving at the terrace's doorway, Oquine asked the group if the news was true, to which Vitus responded that they did not know, but that the Jedi High Council was evaluating the intel about Ro. In response, the Padawan stated that they were not asking about Ro but about the blight. Upon realizing that the group was not aware of the discovery of the blight on Kashyyyk, Oquine turned and spoke with Burryaga, informing him that the blight had been found on his homeworld.[1]

Personality and traits

By 228 BBY,[2] Condola Oquine had a youthful appearance. After arriving at the terrace to speak with Burryaga, the Padawan looked pale and was panting.[1]

Powers and abilities

As a member of the Jedi Order, Oquine was Force-sensitive and trained to wield the Force.[1]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 16, which features the Stormwall going down, takes place one year and a few months after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. The events of The High Republic: Tears of the Nameless also take place in 228 BBY per the reasoning here. As The High Republic: Into the Light states its events occur after the events of Tears of the Nameless and before the Stormwall goes down, they must also take place in that year.
