"I want you troopers to remember—we're shoulder-to-shoulder on those front lines. Brothers! And sometimes we may quarrel, but no matter what, we are united. Rule one: we fight together."
―Colt[5]

Colt was a Clone ARC Commander who served as the commanding officer of Rancor Battalion, along with commanders Havoc and Blitz, during the Clone Wars, as part of the Grand Army of the Republic. He was killed by Asajj Ventress during the Battle of Kamino.

Colt was, like all clones, a genetic copy of the once renowned bounty hunter Jango Fett,[1] and was trained on the water world of Kamino. At some point, he was promoted to the rank of Clone ARC Commander of the Rancor Battalion, serving alongside Commanders Blitz, Havoc, and Hammer during the Clone Wars.[5] At some point, Colt—joined by Havoc, Blitz, and another ARC trooper—sas serving in a forested environment and prepared an ambush against an incoming group of B2-series super battle droids.[6] Colt once found himself in a conflict in which, while by a window, he fired upon a target.[7]

Training of clone cadets

"You broke formation, you disobeyed orders, and you left a man behind. You broke rule number one."
―Colt[5]

Colt, along with the bounty hunters Bric and El-Les, oversaw clone cadets' training. He selected Bravo Squad to first perform the final challenge, as the squad's cadets had completed their trial run in record Time, "ARC trooper time," as Colt saw it. From an observation platform overlooking the practice chamber, the commander instructed El-Les to initiate version THX, variable 1138, of the Citadel Challenge. Bravo Squad's performance in the test greatly impressed him, who congratulated the instructors on their training of the cadets.[5]

Next was the Domino Squad, and Colt instructed El-Les and Bric to not make the Citadel easy for them. As he observed their fighting, he quickly grew disappointed by Domino Squad's "sloppy" and "unorthodox" performance. Colt stopped the test after Domino Squad broke formation, disobeyed orders and had broken rule one, leaving an injured CT-00-2010 behind on the ground. As a result, El-Les had no choice but to give an automatic failure for Domino Squad. Although, the squad did later succeed after they were given a second opportunity to pass the simulation. After Domino Squad had graduated, Colt and his fellow ARC troopers saw off the cadets as they shipped out as soldiers for the Republic.[5]

Battle of Kamino

Colt and his fellow ARC troopers remained on Kamino. When General Grievous, the leader of the droid army, and assassin Asajj Ventress launched a surprise attack on Kamino, Colt was assigned to defend Tipoca City, where he encountered Grievous and managed to hold his own against him, accompanied by a small squad of clone troopers. However, soon after, he confronted Ventress, who Force choked him. Colt was slammed against the wall, with the impact knocking his helmet off. Ventress then proceeded to impale him with her lightsabers, while she kissed him on the cheek. She disengaged her lightsaber, allowing Colt's lifeless body to collapse to the floor.[2]

Personality and traits

As a human male clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, Colt stood at a height of 1.83 meters[1] and weighed eighty kilograms.[4] He had black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin.[2]

Bravo Squad's performance, specifically, greatly impressed the commander—the cadets had completed their trial run in record "ARC trooper" time and had performed their final test flawlessly. His evaluation of Domino Squad, conversely, was quite different—the cadets' shoddy handling of the Citadel Challenge had revealed their disunity and noncompliance, and Colt wasted no time in berating them for their mistakes.[5]

When faced with a Separatist attack on Tipoca City, Colt and other clones fought against invading battle droids despite overwhelming odds. The commander continued to fight even after his comrades were killed, until he himself was struck down in battle.[2]

Skills and abilities

Colt had received ARC training at one point prior to serving as an ARC trooper and was promoted to the rank of Clone ARC Commander. He served as the commanding officer of the Rancor Battalion[5] and led clone troopers into battle.[2] As an ARC Trooper, Colt was trained in armed and unarmed combat as well as military tactics, survival, reconnaissance and infiltrations.[8]

Equipment

At birth, like the other clone troopers, Colt was implanted by the Kaminoan scientists with a behavioral modification biochip to ensure that the trooper would not resist certain orders.[1] As an ARC trooper, Colt made use of white Phase I ARC Trooper Armor with red and gray markings, which included a helmet with a rangefinder; a kama; a double pauldron; additional gray armor plating on the chest, arms, and legs; a survival pack; and two holsters for DC-17 repeater hand blasters.[5] Colt also had ammunition cartridges on top of chest plates.[8] Additionally, he was armed with a DC-15A blaster carbine.[2]

Behind the scenes

Colt first appeared in "Clone Cadets,"[5] the first episode of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars third season, which aired on September 17, 2010.[9] A digital card on Star Wars: Card Trader released on October 12, 2018 demonstrated an image of Clone ARC Commander Colt, but the card's title stated "Clone ARC Commander Hammer."[10] "Hammer" is the name that production referred to another ARC trooper.[11]
