- "Well, if it isn't my favorite customers. Let me guess, three waters? Or are you actually gonna spend some credits this time?"
"Three Cirilian Sour Pastes, Aunt Z. On Tam." - ―Aunt Z and Kazuda Xiono
Cirilian Sour Paste was a drink created by the proprietor Z'Vk'Thkrkza "Aunt Z" that became known as one of the signature offerings of her cantina, Aunt Z's Tavern. In 34 ABY, it was available for order in the tavern. That same year, it was mentioned in the chef Strono Tuggs' cookbook in an entry about Aunt Z's Cirilian Noodle Salad recipe.
Description
Cirilian Sour Paste was a beverage created by the proprietor Z'Vk'Thkrkza "Aunt Z"[1] that could be consumed by humans and Kadas'sa'Niktos.[2] The drink partially shared its name with the Mid Rim Territories' Cirilia system[3] and with Aunt Z's Cirilian Noodle Salad, which was inspired by Cirilian Sour Paste.[1]
History
Aunt Z served Cirilian Sour Pastes to her patrons.
By 34 ABY,[4] Aunt Z served Cirilian Sour Paste in her tavern aboard the supertanker fuel depot Colossus, and it became known as one of the establishment's signature offerings.[1] That year,[4] the mechanic Kazuda Xiono ordered three Cirilian Sour Pastes for himself and his colleagues, Tamara Ryvora and Neeku Vozo, while in Aunt Z's Tavern. The proprietor accepted their order and brought three of the beverages from behind the bar.[2]
Later that year,[5] the mechanics again visited the tavern and ordered three Cirilian Sour Pastes.[6] At some point after publishing his first cookbook[1] that same year,[7] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs published a holiday cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, and mentioned the beverage when expounding on Aunt Z's Cirilian Noodle Salad recipe.[1]
Behind the scenes
- "I'm excited to share this recipe for Cirilian Noodle Salad. […] This recipe gets its name from the drink Cirilian Sour Paste, served in Aunt Z's tavern on the Colossus in Star Wars Resistance."
- ―Jenn Fujikawa on her work for Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook
Cirilian Sour Paste first appeared in "The High Tower,"[2] the fifth episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance, which aired on October 28, 2018.[9] Jenn Fujikawa, one of the authors of the 2021 cookbook, Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, created a recipe for the dish Cirilian Noodle Salad for the work and named it after Cirilian Sour Paste.[8]
