A circular saw[1] or buzz saw[2] was a small, highspeed cutting tool. Constructed of durasteel, circular saws were strong enough to cut through obstacles including power cables, thick foliage, and syntherope. Circular saws were common components installed on droids, either mounted externally onto their body, or installed in an internal compartment and deployed when needed. Industrial Automaton manufactured the Type 10 Cutting Saw.[1]
Pistoeka sabotage droids, also called "buzz droids," were armed with circular saws that allowed them to cut through the hulls of starships while in combat.[3]
P2, R2, and R5-series astromech droids were also equipped with circular saws that assisted them with simple repair jobs.[2] R2-D2 used his to escape from an Ewok trap during the Rebel mission to Endor.[4]
