"Coruscant remains under Imperial control, but the fleeing loyalist armadas have ceded the rest of their territory to us. That leaves the warlords and opportunists isolated; eliminating the last of them will take time, but few remain a serious threat."
―Gial Ackbar, to the rest of the New Republic High Command[3]

The Chrenthoan Abyss was an area of space in the Chrenthoa sector within the Inner Rim Territories[1] and the Interior regions.[2] Situated at the coordinates J-14 on the Standard Galactic Grid,[1] it was controlled by the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.[3] In 5 ABY,[4] after much of the Empire's territory had been lost to the New Republic, an Imperial presence remained in the Chrenthoan Abyss. The area was marked as one of the largest territories occupied by Imperial warlords and opportunists, alongside the Faultheen sector and the Anoat sector, on a holographic map displayed during a New Republic High Command meeting. In that meeting, Admiral Gial Ackbar claimed that territories like the Chrenthoan Abyss were isolated, with only a few posing a serious threat to the New Republic.[3]

Behind the scenes

The Chrenthoan Abyss first appeared in a hologram in the 2021 novel Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, the third installment of the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy which was written by Alexander Freed.[3]

  4. The events of Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel begin after the Cerberon system campaign, and the novel also features the Battle of Jakku at the end of its three main sections. Since Star Wars: Timelines dates both of those conflicts to 5 ABY, the main events of Victory's Price must therefore be set in that year. Furthermore, since the appearance of the Chrenthoan Abyss in Victory's Price occurs prior to the Battle of Jakku, it must also have taken place that year.
