Chrenthoa sector

The Chrenthoa sector was a sector located within the Inner Rim Territories^[1] and the Interior.^[2] It contained the Chrenthoan Abyss, which was situated in grid square J-14 of the Standard Galactic Grid.^[1] The Chrenthoan Abyss was under the control of the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War and, after a retreat by Imperial loyalist forces, was marked as one of the largest territories occupied by Imperial warlords and opportunists by the New Republic^[3] in 5 ABY.^[4]

Behind the scenes

The Chrenthoa sector first appeared, albeit unidentified, in a hologram in the 2021 novel Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, the third installment of Alexander Freed's Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy.^[3] The sector was identified in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com^[1] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.^[5]

Since Star Wars: Timelines dates both of those conflicts to 5 ABY, the main events of Victory's Price must therefore be set in that year. Furthermore, since the appearance of the Chrenthoa sector in Victory's Price occurs prior to the Battle of Jakku, it must also have taken place that year.
