Champat a terrestrial astronomical object[3] located in the Champat system within the Core Worlds[1] and the Interior regions.[2] Situated at the coordinates M-12 on the Standard Galactic Grid,[1] it was an industrial location and the birthplace of human Caluan Ematt in 20 BBY.[3] Champat later became a major resource and production hub for the Galactic Empire. During the Operation Ringbreaker campaign, conducted by the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry[4] in 3 ABY,[3] General Crix Madine, inspired by the campaign's early success, listed the industrial Core World on a galactic map of Imperial shipyards, drydocks, and mining centers he believed should subsequently be targeted.[4]
Madine labeled Champat as having a medium production output level and a high security level and included the map in an official document to the Alliance leader Mon Mothma. Operation Ringbreaker was unsuccessful, and Madine's document was eventually included in the non-electric document archive The Rebel Files by archivist Hendri Underholt.[4]
