Cavas was a beige gas giant planet located within the Bormea sector of the Core Worlds. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire carried out an incursion into the Bormea sector, using jamming ships to cause communications blackouts for the New Republic. Commander Lindon Javes sent Vanguard Squadron to investigate these blackouts over Cavas and re-establish communications.

Cavas was a gas giant planet located in the Brentaal System, within the Bormea sector of the Core Worlds. It was beige with streaks of light green. It was orbited by two moons, one blue and one red.[2]

History

Vanguard Squadron arrive over Cavas

Four years after destruction of Alderaan, the Galactic Empire sent IGV-55 jamming ships to Cavas, to cause communications blackouts for the New Republic operating in the Bormea Sector. Commander Lindon Javes feared of an Imperial invasion, and sent Vanguard Squadron to investigate these blackouts and re-establish communications. After finding the wreckage of a New Republic scout ship, Vanguard Squadron soon encountered the Imperial jamming ships, which were escorted by TIE/ln space superiority starfighters and a Arquitens-class command cruiser. Vanguard destroyed the jamming ships, re-establishing communications, and called for reinforcements. Two New Republic CR90 corvettes arrived and the remaining Imperial ships were finally destroyed. The Imperial incursion was therefore pushed back and communications across the Bormea Sector restored.[2]

Behind the scenes

Cavas first appeared in Star Wars canon in the 2020 video game Star Wars: Squadrons, where it was the location for one of the single-player campaign missions.[2] The planet Cavas was first mentioned in Star Wars Legends in the 2003 sourcebook Coruscant and the Core Worlds.[4]

As Star Wars: The Rebel Files establishes that Chandrila was also located in the Bormea sector, and is also stated to be located in the Core Worlds by Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure, it can be deduced that the Bormea sector, including the Brentaal system and therefore Cavas, are located in the Core Worlds.
