Carbonyl was a type of substance that could be found on the Cularin system moon Ostfrei during the Clone Wars near to a hidden pirate base that was in operation .[1]
Circa 21 BBY,[2] a group of freelance agents investigating reports of suspicious activity on Ostfrei located the concealed pirate base by using a portable chemical scanner to track a trail of carbonyl ions and ionized methyl that led to the pirate installation.[1]
Behind the scenes
Carbonyl appeared in Who Goes Thaere? a roleplaying adventure by Ronald A. Heintz released in 2003 as an instalment in Year Three of RPGA's Living Force roleplaying campaign. In roleplaying module, the players roleplay as the freelance agents dispatched to Ostfrei and it is possible for the player characters to find the concealed pirate base on the moon by following a trail of carbonyl ions.[1] [1]

- ↑ The Living Force Campaign Guide states that the Living Force campaign is set one year after the Invasion of Naboo, an event that is dated to 32 BBY by The New Essential Chronology. As the Living Force adventure Below the Belt: Philology moved the campaign forward ten years to the time of the Clone Wars, Who Goes Thaere? is therefore dated to circa 21 BBY.
