Cantham House was the private estate of Bail Organa on Coruscant. A penthouse suite independent from the rest of its building, it contained a few bedrooms, a great room, and a crescent-shaped balcony that looked out on a wide swath of the cityscape. By either senatorial or royal standards, it was considered relatively modest.[3] The roof of Cantham House was protected from high winds by large glass slabs that had scenes of Alderaanian mountains etched into them.[4]

During a soirée Organa hosted in[4] 22 BBY[5] on the roof of Cantham House the disguised handmaiden Sabé saw Alderaanian plants and pieces of art that incorporated wind or water she noted that it must have cost a fortune but Alderaan had been a member of the Galactic Republic for a very long time.[4]

Toward the end of the Clone Wars, Organa and his fellow senators Mon Mothma and Padmé Amidala organized meetings at Cantham House[1] to discuss the Petition of 2,000, a set of demands by the Delegation of 2,000 group of representatives who were concerned with the state of democracy in the Galactic Republic[6] that included Sheev Palpatine's relinquishment of his wartime emergency powers as the Supreme Chancellor. However, Palpatine refused to let go of his powers at the end of the war and further declared himself Emperor of the Galactic Empire succeeding the Republic.[1]

In 19 BBY,[7] following the attack on the Executive Center and Organa's sponsorship of the Imperial Rebirth Act, the Alderaanian senator and the Queen of Alderaan Breha Organa retreated to Cantham House. A group of protesters gathered outside, battering at doors and windows, demanding his arrest for treason against the Galactic Empire and issuing death threats against the couple.[8]

House security lowered blast plates, which secured the entrance. The protesters continued through daybreak, and the senators repeated calls to the police were ignored. At this point, a gunship approached Cantham House, manned by three clone troopers pointing their weapons downward, and led by a Tarsunt admiral who was a friend of Bail Organa. The admiral ordered the troopers to fire at the crowd, and most of the mob managed to flee the scene.[8]

In 3 BBY,[9] when Organa's adopted daughter Leia Organa joined the Apprentice Legislature she stayed in Cantham House rather than a dorm like the rest of her fellow Apprentice Legislators.[3]

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, after Mothma condemned Palpatine for his actions during the Ghorman Massacre, the Imperial Security Bureau arrived at Cantham House to interview Leia Organa and several other individuals due to suspicions the Bureau had about them.[6]
