- "Is that 'canon'? Man…!"
"No, that's Canon-Man!" - ―Ponda Baba and Orrimaarko
Canon-Man was a male humanoid who had a gray cannon for a head and black eyes.[1] Sometime prior to 1 BBY,[2] a Dressellian named Orrimaarko was at a table with Ponda Baba, a member of the Aqualish species, discussing the potential for the Force-sensitive child Boomka Slay to be the son of the Yarkora "Yak Face."[1]
Orrimaarko asked if this was a factual statement and subsequently clarified this, using the term "canon" followed by the word "man," spoken in exasperation. Taking the question literally, Ponda Baba pointed to Canon-Man—who was standing nearby drinking a beverage with an umbrella in the cup via a straw—and responded to Orrimaarko by saying "No, that's Canon-Man!". Canon-Man was wearing a red jacket with a yellow center panel and a yellow strip down the sleeve. A brown belt with three pouches sat on their waist above red pants, while grey gloves adorned their hands.[1]
Behind the scenes
Canon-Man was featured in the non-canonical comic "The Light Side" with the Launchpad section of Star Wars Insider 217, released in 2023. The comic was written and illustrated by Jamie Cosley and plays on the dual meanings of the homophones "canon,"[1] part of an accepted body of work;[3] and "cannon," a large gun typically mounted on a carriage.[4]
