The Caladarians were a group represented in the Galactic Republic's Senate during the Republic Era.[1] In 32 BBY,[2] the Sith Lord Darth Sidious—while publicly operating as Senator Palpatine of the Mid Rim planet Naboo—oversaw the proposal of a taxation bill in the Senate, intending for it to fail in order to learn from the Caladarians' reaction. Sidious later reflected on his plan's success—including how he had learned whom the Caladarians were willing to sacrifice in the process of stopping the initiative—while speaking to the Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Caladarians were mentioned in Queen's Peril, a 2020 young-adult novel by E. K. Johnston as the second installment of Star Wars: Queen's Series.[1]
