- "Brave star-pilots hauled seeds all the way from Broest just so farmers could produce something to help children grow up strong."
- ―Bail Organa persuades his adopted daughter Leia to eat ruica
Broest was a location[3] in the Broest system of the Core Worlds[1] and the Interior[2] that fell in grid square L-10 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Ruica seeds from Broest were transported across the galaxy to the planet Alderaan for farmers to grow. When, during her childhood, Princess Leia Organa would not eat ruica, her[3] adoptive[4] father Bail Organa told her about the seeds being brought to Alderaan from Broest in order to convince her.[3]
Behind the scenes
Broest was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the comic book Princess Leia 2, which was written by Mark Waid[3] and released on March 18, 2015.[5] The first mention of Broest in the Star Wars Legends continuity was in Recon & Report: The Journey to Coruscant, an article written by Peter M. Schweighofer and published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 2 in May 1994.[6]
