Borstel Galactic Defense was a corporation that produced a variety of shipboard ion and laser weaponry, deflector shield generators, as well as various missile systems. The company shared research and development facilities with Taim & Bak.[1]

Borstel was the company that produced the RG-9 model laser cannons for Rebel Alliance's RZ-1 A-wing interceptors, the "Shocklock" ranging laser turret used on Imperial I-class Star Destroyer turbolaser turrets, and RH8 laser cannons that were the primary anti-starfighter weaponry onboard Nebulon-B frigates.
