A blood spite was a predatory creature that made nests. A wounded bird in a blood spite nest would have little chance of survival. When the Chiss exile Mitth'raw'nuruodo first joined the Galactic Empire's Imperial Navy, his interpreter Eli Vanto felt he had as much chance of surviving at the Royal Imperial Academy on the planet Coruscant as a wounded bird would have in a nest of blood spites.[1]
Behind the scenes
Blood spites were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2017 novel Thrawn, written by Timothy Zahn.[1] They were originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they first appeared in the 2013 novel Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void, written by Tim Lebbon.[2]
