"Yuko, your parents were wonderful people. They brought food and medical aid to those in need across the Outer Rim."
―BILY, to Bennet's son Yuko[1]

Bennet Sten was a human smuggler and thief who brought medical supplies and foodstuff to people in need across the Outer Rim Territories with his partner Myler Sten. He eventually had a son, Yuko, and created multiple holorecordings of him with Myler and Yuko in their hidden home on the planet Tatooine. The family also had two droids, a bear-like caretaker droid BILY, and a small triangle droid. At some point, the family stole something valuable to the pirate captain Fox-Ear. In a skirmish between the stens and some starfighters, a starship crashed into their own. After Bennet and Myler's eventual deaths from sickness, BILY watched after and took care of Yuko.

Fox-Ear's pirate gang eventually tracked down the Sten's child and attempted to retrieve their stolen treasure. The pirates were eventually defeated by a krayt dragon while trying to infiltrate the family's bunker. BILY then took Yuko into the old home, where the droid dusted the parent's graves and Yuko witnessed the recordings created by Bennet and Myler.

Smuggling and death

"Look how much you've grown!"
"Bet you're gonna end up bigger than daddy."

At some point, Bennet Sten became a smuggler with the[1] woman[2] Myler Sten. Together, the pair brought foodstuff and medical equipment to those in need across the Outer Rim Territories. Bennet and Myler eventually became the parents of Yuko and came into possession of a triangle droid and BILY, a bear-like caretaker droid. The family lived in a hidden bunker home on the planet Tatooine within[1] the Jundland Wastes.[2] The bunker had a handprint lock openable by Yuko.[1]

The Stens recorded several moments with their child on holograms, including a point where Myler held Yuko in their arms while Yuko held on to Bennet's finger as the couple laughed. Later, they recorded a moment when Myler fed Yuko with a spoon and Bennet told him that he did a good job. Another recording featured the parents measuring Yuko's height on a wall, where Bennet placed a pair of goggles on[1] his[2] son's head and said he may grow bigger than even himself. A final recording was taken in front of their starship.[1]

The Stens eventually stole something valuable to the pirate captain Fox-Ear that he regarded as treasure. At some point, Bennet and Myler became surrounded in a skirmish by multiple starfighters. As the ship shook under laserfire, BILY took Yuko in his arms and their cone droid zipped across the floor, knocking itself upside down. A starship was struck by the fire and crashed into their ship. Bennet and Myler later grew sick and died, leaving Yuko, BILY, and the triangle droid alone. On Tatooine, two grave markers were placed in a room of their home for the couple, and BILY took care of Yuko in their absence.[1]

Fox-Ear's revenge

"I have no business with you. Where might your parents be? They took something valuable of mine, and I'm here to get it back. With interest, of course."
―Fox-Ear, to a frightened Yuko[1]

At some point no earlier than 1 BBY,[3] Fox-Ear tracked the Stens to Tatooine, where they provided the local child Sola with a hologram of Bennet and Myler with their triangle droid. Sola used the holopuck to question multiple individuals of the city Mos Eisley. The child eventually came across BILY and questioned him about the couple, lying about them being his parents. BILY lied in return, claiming he had no idea who they were. Sola followed the droid back to his home with Yuko and spotted the triangle droid from the hologram, he then brought the information back to Fox-Ear's pirate gang. The Twi'lek pirate Gura informed Sola that they planned to take everything owned by the Stens as payback for what they stole. Learning this, Sola left to warn Yuko.[1]

After Sola arrived at BILY and Yuko's home, Fox-Ear's starship blasted a hole in the front of the building. Stepping inside, Fox-Ear stated he had no business with Yuko or BILY, and instead asked where Bennet and Myler were, admitting he was there to retrieve what was stolen from him with interest. BILY held Yuko and told Fox-Ear that the Stens had gotten sick and died. Not believing the droid, Fox-Ear grabbed Yuko and threatened him if BILY didn't reveal the location of the treasure. After Sola saved Yuko from the pirate's clutches, BILY was taken by Fox-Ear to lead the pirates to the treasure. Losing the only family he had left, Yuko traveled with Sola and the triangle droid to get him back.[1]

The pirate gang eventually arrived at the entrance to the Sten's bunker, however, BILY refused to open the door using the handprint. Fox-Ear then ordered his subordinates to retrieve Yuko to open the door for him as he reprogrammed BILY. Yuko and Sola eventually made their way to the pirates and defeated a reprogrammed BILY, returning him to his normal state. A leviathan krayt dragon found the large group and chased the pirates off a ledge into a deep chasm. The children, BILY, and the triangle droid then ventured into the bunker of the Sten family where Yuko watched the recordings his parents made for him. BILY dusted Bennet's grave and told Yuko of Bennet and Myler's good deeds across the outer rim. Although the original plan by BILY was to give the family starship to Yuko when he was grown up, the caretaker droid provided it to the children and offered to teach them how to fly it.[1]

Personality and traits

"It spilled. Yuko. Ah..."
"Ah... [chuckles] Yeah. Good job, Yuko."
―Myler and Bennet feeding Yuko[1]

Bennet Sten was considered a wonderful person by his droid BILY. Alongside Myler, Bennet provided help to those in need across the Outer Rim. His son made him smile, and he believed Yuko would eventually grow up to be bigger than himself. He created hologram recordings with Myler for Yuko to see. Sten had light skin and spiky hair.[1]
